About JVLN Performance

Built From
The Field Up

We’re Maggie and Sam — and while javelin has taken us around the world, neither of our careers started with a clear path to the top.

In a lot of ways, that’s exactly why JVLN Performance exists.

Olympic Javelin Coach · NCAA D1 1st Team All-American · PR: 75.18m
I’m a former baseball player turned javelin thrower. I competed collegiately for Texas A&M from 2015 to 2019, earning NCAA 1st Team All-American honors in 2019. After college, I competed for five more years, qualifying for the 2021 U.S. Olympic Trials and placing 7th in the final. Since 2020, I’ve coached my wife, Maggie Malone-Hardin, through two World Championships (Eugene, OR & Budapest, Hungary) and two Olympic Games (Tokyo, Japan & Paris, France).

3x Olympian · NCAA Champion · 3x U.S. Champion · PR: 67.40m
In high school, I played softball and volleyball and competed in multiple events in track. I was recruited to the University of Nebraska as a heptathlete before shifting my focus to the javelin during my freshman year. I finished my collegiate career at Texas A&M as an NCAA Champion and the women’s collegiate javelin record holder at the time. After college, I competed in my first Olympic Games in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Since then, I’ve represented Team U.S.A. at home and abroad across two World Championships and three Olympic Games.
